Bankruptcy filings down 13% in region
5/2/2014Filings in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Toledo fell 13 percent in April compared with the same month a year ago, according to monthly statistics from the clerk of courts office.
There were 481 cases filed last month, compared with 551 filed in April, 2013. The Toledo court covers 21 counties in northwest Ohio.
There were 527 cases filed in March. Overall, there have been 1,584 cases filed in the first four months of 2014, a decrease of 13 percent over last year.
Chapter 7 liquidation cases filed in April totaled 447, down 10 percent from a year ago. Chapter 13 repayment plan cases totaled 33 filings, a decrease of 33 percent from a year ago.
