Cooper Tire to wait on Chinese plant decision

FINDLAY — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. says it has extended the deadline to determine the future ownership of a Chinese plant it has operated with a Chinese partner.

A statement from the company said the deadline on the Cooper Chengshan (Shandong) Tire Co. Ltd. facility has been extended for “a brief period,” but did not offer specifics.

Roy Armes, Cooper’s chairman, chief executive, and president, said Monday had been the deadline for an independent firm to declare the fair market value of the plant.

He said the deadline was extended “to allow for some additional work to take place.”
