The University of Toledo has named an interim dean for the college of engineering.
Dr. Nagi Naganathan, 44, succeeds Dr. Ronald Fournier in the position, Dr. William Free, interim provost, announced yesterday. Dr. Naganathan will be paid an annual salary of $125,000.
Dr. Fournier stepped down from the position Oct. 19 to spend more time with his family, researching, and teaching, but he remained a member of the UT faculty. He had been dean of the college of engineering since June, 1999.
Dr. Naganathan joined UT's faculty in 1986 and has been chairman of the department of mechanical, industrial, and manufacturing engineering since 1995.
He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Madras in India, his master's degree from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., and his doctorate from Oklahoma State University. All three degrees are in mechanical engineering.
