Forum to review proposals of education commission

3/6/2001

BOWLING GREEN - Residents from northwest Ohio are invited to join members of the Governor's Commission on Student Success at a regional forum focusing on the group's recently released report.

The 33-member commission spent seven months talking with parents, educators, students, and business and community leaders about ways to improve Ohio's schools and issued 31 recommendations that included abolishing a state law that would make students who fail the fourth-grade proficiency reading test repeat that grade.

The forum will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Holiday Inn French Quarter on U.S. 20 in Perrysburg. Hosted by the Wood County Educational Service Center, the forum is intended for residents of Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Williams, and Wood counties.
