Rossford schools to resume search for superintendent

7/9/2001

The Rossford board of education yesterday decided not to hire either of two finalists for superintendent and will start a new search.

The board voted 5-0 to begin the process again to hire a superintendent. The board last month interviewed three candidates. Dr. Gary Doberstyn, superintendent of Monroeville, Ohio, Local Schools, and Michael Barabash, assistant superintendent of Napoleon City Schools, returned for second interviews before the board.

Board president Joseph Minarcin, Jr., said the board felt the candidates were not a match for the educational philosophy of the district. "They just were not a fit for our situation. We are going to start from the beginning."

JoAnne Johnson, retired principal of Eagle Point Elementary, has been interim superintendent since former superintendent Dr. Douglas Arnold left the district Feb. 26 to become director of elementary and middle schools in Kokomo, Ind.
