Notre Dame Academy names new principal

5/28/2002

Notre Dame Academy students can expect little change in their schoolwork next year, according to Sister Mary Ann Culpert, SND, the academy's newly-named principal.

Sister Mary Ann will replace Sister Mary Carol Gregory, who is leaving the post after 20 years. Sister Carol will remain as president of the institution and concentrate on athletics, finances, and construction of a $5.5 million addition to the school at Sylvania Avenue near Monroe Street.

Sister Mary Ann is a graduate of Notre Dame. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Bowling Green State University in 1981 and a master's in education from the University of Dayton in 1993.

She was principal of St. Joseph School, Maumee, from 1998 through 1991, and St. Mary's School from 1991 to 1994. She then served until 2000 as the education consultant and director of ministry for the Sisters of Notre Dame.

Notre Dame was recently selected a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for high academic standards, and a commitment to educational excellence. The award will be presented in October.
