Perrysburg district expects 2 new K classes

6/26/2003

If current enrollment stands, there will be two all-day kindergarten classes in the Perrysburg school district in the fall.

So far, 57 students are registered for the classes.

One class will be held at Toth Elementary School for students who live in that school's attendance area, and another class will be housed at Frank Elementary School for students from all four elementary school attendance areas.

A third classroom could be added if more students enroll, according to superintendent Mike Cline. If there will be a third class, that decision will be made by Aug. 15.

Applications can be submitted throughout the summer.

In April, the school board approved a pilot program to offer an extra half-day kindergarten on a tuition basis.

The cost is $325 per month per child or $2,925 annually.

Scholarships will be provided for five students per classroom, ranging from full-paid to $1,500, depending on qualification based on free and reduced-lunch guidelines.
