TONTOGONY, Ohio — The Otsego Local Schools Board of Education yesterday unanimously approved the district's plan to build and renovate schools, and sent the plan to the state.
The 5-0 vote sets the stage for the district to apply for funds from the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission as part of a statewide rebuilding plan.
The district, however, has one hurdle — voter approval next month of a 6.2-mill bond issue that would raise $18.4 million to pay the local share of the project.
Three previous requests for a bond issue were rejected, prompting the district to scale back its plans and retain its Grand Rapids elementary building while replacing structures in Weston and Haskins.
