GIBSONBURG, Ohio - James Reiter, superintendent of Gibsonburg schools, is resigning to become head of the Holgate school system in Henry County.

Mr. Reiter's resignation, which is effective Aug. 6, was accepted by the Gibsonburg school board Wednesday night. Mr. Reiter, who was hired to lead the Gibsonburg schools in March, 2000, oversaw construction of a new high school and the remodeling and expansion of the district's middle school.

At Holgate, Mr. Reiter will replace Terry McDowell, who is leaving at the end of this month.

Six months ago, the Gibsonburg school board awarded Mr. Reiter a two-year contract extension through July, 2006. Before coming to Gibsonburg, he was superintendent of the Marion Local Schools and Ada Local Schools, and principal of Genoa Area High School.
