A demolition crew has peeled away the outer walls, exposing the inside of the former Gunckel Elementary School at Nebraska and Division streets in Toledo. Gunckel is the first building to be demolished as part of the Toledo Public Schools' $821 million construction project. A new Libbey Middle School that will house sixth, seventh, and eighth graders will be built on the central-city site. Demolition began last week and is expected to be completed next week.
