Tiffin schools name new superintendent

11/25/2004

TIFFIN - The superintendent of Arlington Local Schools in Hancock County has been named to the same position with the Tiffin City Schools.

Donald Coletta will become Tiffin's school superintendent Jan. 3, replacing Denise Callihan, who left the district Sept. 1 to become head of the Lancaster, Ohio, school system. Jim Getz, director of graduate studies and education at Heidelberg College, has been interim superintendent since then.

Mr. Coletta's contract calls for him to be paid $95,000 a year, but the board on Tuesday night accepted his request to reduce that amount by an undetermined amount to conform with budget cuts made by the district in the past year.

Mr. Coletta is a graduate of St. Paul High School in Norwalk and has degrees from Ashland University, the University of Toledo, and Hanover College in Indiana. Before becoming superintendent of the Arlington schools, he headed the Vanlue school district in Hancock County and held several positions with the Carey school district in Wyandot County.
