Rhodes college plans to expand nursing program

2/12/2005

LIMA, Ohio - Rhodes State College said it plans to increase the number of students it admits to its registered nurse program from 150 to 240 over the next five years.

The college plans to add faculty and increase the number of hospitals it works with to provide clinical hours, equipment, and space.

Seven area hospitals plan to work with Rhodes on expanding its nursing program, including Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay; Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert; Lima Memorial Hospital, and St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

The expansion is in response to a nationwide nursing shortage and a projected need in the Lima area for 600 additional registered nurses in the next five years.
