Christopher Snyder of Toledo, a hospitality management major at Owens Community College, has received a $2,000 scholarship from the Northwest Ohio Restaurant Association.

Award recipients are interviewed by a panel of association representatives regarding their goals, accomplishments, and community involvement. Mr. Snyder carries a 3.6 grade point average, plans to complete a bachelor's degree in business or management, and recently attended a mission trip with his church to South Dakota. He previously received a scholarship from the Maumee Valley Chefs Association for his work in food service. He works as a waiter and bartender.

Mr. Snyder is a graduate of Perrysburg High School and plans to attend Bowling Green State University.

University of Toledo students Gregory Ford, a health information management senior, and Joel Todd, Jr., a junior in early childhood education, were recognized at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship benefit dinner on Feb. 11. They each receive a one-year scholarship of $4,000.

Mr. Ford, who is also a recipient of the 2004 Minority Alumni Affiliate Scholarship, is a member of the Black Student Union, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and the American Health Information Management Association. He recently organized a Black Student Union food and coat drive that donated 500 pounds of food and 30 coats to the Cherry Street Mission.

Mr. Todd is a member of the Black Student Union and the Student African American Brotherhood. He is also a volunteer for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America and site coordinator for tutoring services at New Life Church of God.
