Rossford: School board decides to fix leaning wall

3/9/2005

The leaning wall behind Rossford High School soon will be forced back to its correct position.

The Rossford Exempted Village Schools Board of Education voted last week to pay Schoen Inc. of Toledo $131,500 to build a gravity wall to repair the retaining wall, which is leaning toward the adjacent sidewalk.

The measure was approved with a 4-1 vote, with board member David Kleeberger opposing.

In October, the board approved paying $9,500 to Poggemeyer Design Group Inc. of Bowling Green to survey and draw up the plan for the wall before it was put out to bid.

The wall was built in 1963 with the fill dirt from the basement of Rossford Junior High School.
