Tontogany: School board approves bids for new building

3/9/2005

The Otsego Board of Education has approved requesting construction bids for a new building that will be connected to the existing high school to house grades 7 through 12.

The new building, which will be roughly 92,000 square feet, will be primarily for high school students, but will have a few areas for middle school students. The existing high school, which is 48,250 square feet, will mainly house middle school classes.

The district hopes to award contracts for the project in mid-April, Superintendent Joe Long said.

The district is paying for the project with revenue from an $18.2 million bond issue passed in March, 2004. State funds will pay for future improvements, including two new elementary schools.
