Student of the Week: Laura Simons

Laura Simons, a senior from Whitehouse, plans to attend the University of Dayton, majoring in pre-medicine/biology. She is ranked No. 1 in her class with a 4.5 grade point average. She enjoys the sciences and calculus.

Laura is valedictorian of her senior class; was honored as Maumee Elks student of the month; and is recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award. She plays clarinet in the marching and symphonic bands and pit orchestra; is president of the French club; and a member of Youth-to-Youth, the National Honor Society and Anthony Wayne Youth Challenge Program. She enjoys playing recreational soccer.

Don Ondrus, calculus teacher, describes Laura as "a bright, enthusiastic and energetic individual. She asks penetrating questions on mathematical concepts and is the type of student who makes teaching enjoyable."

Laura is the daughter of Robert and Mary Simons.
