Forum in Bowling Green to address questions on school levy

4/22/2005

BOWLING GREEN - Bowling Green schools Superintendent Hugh Caumartin and some school board members will be available Sunday to answer questions about the operating levy that will be on the May 3 primary ballot.

Mr. Caumartin will be at Grounds for Thought, 174 South Main St., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer questions and talk with residents about the five-year, 4.2-mill operating levy.

The request includes the replacement of the district's existing 2.3-mill levy, which was approved in 2000, and an additional 1.9 mills. The new levy would generate about $2.36 million a year.

School officials said the additional millage is needed to offset increased costs because of inflation and salary increases.
