Benton-Carroll-Salem school chief to step down

OAK HARBOR, Ohio The superintendent of the Benton-Carroll-Salem Local Schools plans to step down next year, school officials said yesterday.

Fred Schnoor, head of the central Ottawa County district since 2002, will leave effective Sept. 1, 2006, said Ron Overmyer, school board president. Mr. Schnoor will be paid $96,600 for the coming school year under a contract extension that takes effect Aug. 1.

Before joining Benton-Carroll-Salem, Mr. Schnoor was a financial consultant for the Ohio Department of Education for two years.

Before that, he was interim superintendent of the Bucyrus, Ohio, school system and was superintendent of Eastwood Local schools for 11 years.
