BOWLING GREEN - A wall of silhouettes of people living and working in Bowling Green was chosen for a public art project to be built this spring at East Poe Road and College Avenue.

Three teams of art students at Bowling Green State University designed ways to improve the look of the intersection at the northwest edge of campus.

The students presented their design to a four-member panel of judges Wednesday, and the winning team now has the spring semester and $20,000 to build its project.

Instructor Greg Mueller said the students will photograph people in the community and then use a laser device to cut their silhouettes out of sheet aluminum.

The judges were Linda Dobb, BGSU's executive vice president; Katerina Ray, director of BGSU's School of Art; Bowling Green Mayor John Quinn, and North Carolina sculptor Hanna Jubran.
