FREMONT The margin of loss for a tax issue for the Clyde-Green Springs School District increased yesterday to seven votes when the Sandusky County Board of Elections certified the May 2 primary election.

The 2.5-mill, five-year emergency tax issue failed 1,128 to 1,121 after the provisional votes were tallied.

The board of elections will meet Thursday to begin an automatic recount, which will be performed by hand. Seneca County, which is included in the vote total, also will perform a recount.

The initial count on election night showed the tax issue losing by a single vote.

The school board has approved placing the same issue on the Aug. 8 ballot. The tax would raise $539,000 a year.
