SANDERS NEW START IN CLEVELAND

Former Toledo Public Schools Superintendent Eugene Sanders speaks to a class at George Washington Carver School in Cleveland, where he will take over as chief executive officer of the school system July 1. The Toledo Board of Education voted Monday to release Mr. Sanders early from his contract in Toledo. The measure included a compensation package totaling $42,340 plus medical insurance and other financial fringe benefits, such as annuity payments and a monthly car allowance. He also will receive $47,003 for more than 56 unused vacation days. In Cleveland, Mr. Sanders will be paid an annual base salary of $260,000, which is part of a $360,000 compensation package.
