Vanlue schools seeking state aid for K-12 building

VANLUE, Ohio Although the Vanlue Local school district is shy of the 350-student minimum for funding through the Ohio School Facilities Commission, the Hancock County school system plans to seek state assistance to build a K-12 building.

Vanlue Superintendent Tim Kruse said the 320-student district has been granted a waiver by the OSFC, making it eligible for funding. The board voted this week to ask the commission to include it for funding.

Mr. Kruse said if funded, the state would pick up 73 percent of an estimated $12.7 million construction project. Local voters would have to approve a bond issue to make up the rest.
