Diversity Inclusion Day slated Thursday at Owens

11/5/2009

Owens Community College will hold its first-ever Diversity Inclusion Day today.

The observance to celebrate the importance of diversity will include a series of events that are free and open to the public in the Audio/Visual Classroom Center at the college's Perrysburg Township campus.

Events include speakers addressing the economic impact of Latinos in the area, homophobia-related stereotypes, religious discrimination, and the evolution of words and their impact in society.

Films about race and sexual orientation also will be shown.

The event, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., was organized by students at the college who plan to make it a yearly observance.
