BGSU trustees reduce residence hall rates

BOWLING GREEN — Dorm life at Bowling Green State University will be slightly more affordable this fall, except when it comes time to eat.

The university's board of trustees yesterday approved a 1.16 percent decrease in the average room rate for residence halls. But the savings were offset by a 2 percent rise in the average meal plan.

And not everyone, even those who skip meals, can count on paying less. The cost for some rooms — including standard doubles — is going up as much as 2.93 percent, BGSU said.

Even with the price adjustments, BGSU claims its total costs for room, meals, tuition, and other expenses remain below that of most other Ohio universities.
