Owens Community College is offering a free training program for area residents considering college that will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Monday and running through May 5.

“QuickStart to College” is geared toward first-generation college students, low-wage workers, and underemployed and undereducated adults. Participants must have obtained a high school diploma or a GED.

Upon completion of the program, which will focus on academic preparation, study skills, and other college preparation, students will receive three college credit hours toward an Owens education.

The program will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Mondays and from 10 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. on Wednesdays at Owens' Arrowhead Park Learning Center on Indian Wood Circle in Maumee. A mandatory orientation will take place on the first day of class Monday. For more information, call 1-800-GO-OWENS, Ext. 2990.
