CLYDE, Ohio — Teachers in the Clyde-Green Springs Local Schools will have their wages and step increases frozen next year under a new, two-year contract.

The school board this week approved the contract with the 134-member Clyde-Green Springs Education Association. It calls for a wage reopener in the second year and makes some concessions in health insurance.

Superintendent Gregg Elchert, who said he would take a 3 percent salary reduction, said the teachers’ contract should save the district nearly $400,000 over the next two years.
