Sylvania school board elects president, vice president

The Sylvania Board of Education has a new president and vice president. Dave Spiess and Julie Hoffman, respectively, were voted in unanimously last week as president and vice president for 2012.

Mr. Spiess replaces Vicki Donovan Lyle and served as vice president in 2011. Ms. Hoffman replaces Mr. Spiess. Mr. Spiess and Mr. Hoffman are graduates of the Sylvania schools. He is a benefits consultant with SeaGate Benefits Administrator Inc. and she is an attorney specializing in family and juvenile law.

Ms. Lyle and and board member Jim Nusbaum were both sworn in for another term. Both were re-elected in November.

The board changed the time of its work sessions to 5 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. Meetings are in the Zimpfer Conference Room of the Administration Building, 4747 N. Holland-Sylvania Rd. Regular meetings on the fourth Monday are at 7:30 p.m. at Southview.
