Starting in August, Perrysburg kindergartners will go to school for half a day, five times a week.

Perrysburg Board of Education unanimously approved the change last week, a departure from the current schedule under which kindergartners rotate in two groups, going a full day every other day. The groups alternate going to school on Fridays, which has confused some parents, officials said.

"Beginning kindergarten is many families' first experience with Perrysburg schools," the district said in a written statement. "We do not want to start it with trepidation or additional anxiety over the schedule."

The district also recently announced that kindergarten registration information for the 2012-2013 is available online at www.perrysburgschools.net under the "For Parents" tab or at the board office.

Students must be age 5 on or before Aug. 1 and live in the district to register for kindergarten.
