A resolution to approve a contract with Gateway Preschool for the Ottawa Hills School District was approved at a July 16 board of education meeting.

The contract will provide child care and learning opportunities for Ottawa Hills Elementary students.

Kevin Miller, district superintendent, said, "We recognize that many families in our village have a need, because the mother and father work outside the home. We tried to get creative," he said.

Mr. Miller said, "Almost of all of our kindergarten students come to us having gone to preschool."

He added that the resolution will also help economically with the district. "We don't have room" for all-day kindergarten, he said.

Ottawa Hills Elementary currently offers half-day kindergarten.
