Lisa Ellis is the mentor teacher at Glass City Academy. She not only spends her day teaching English literature and senior composition, but after school she mentors seven teachers in the Resident Educator Program. She serves as the teacher-in-charge when the administrative staff isn’t present.
The Cleveland Clinic eXpressions Program is a large program and contest that the students at Glass City Academy participate in every year. Mrs. Ellis works very hard as the chief coordinator of that program to ensure that Glass City Academy has a strong showing and great student success. As the mission of the school is to graduate students who are at-risk of finishing high school, Mrs. Ellis works tirelessly to provide whatever support is necessary to her students so that they may achieve a high school diploma. She also coordinates student community service projects for the students seeking to gain community service hours.
“Glass City Academy would not be nearly as successful were it not for Mrs. Lisa Ellis,” said Stewart B. Jesse, director. “Her efforts to make students successful, matched with her efforts to help our resident educator teachers grow, creates a positive learning environment for students and staff alike. She genuinely cares about every person that she comes into contact with on any given school day. I know that I appreciate her efforts, as do both the Glass City Academy students and staff.”
Mrs. Ellis has a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in English from Northern Illinois University.
