BLADE STAFF

Local residents aged 16 to 21 who dropped out of high school or are behind in credits and unlikely to graduate are invited to learn more about the Gateway to College program at Owens Community College.

Owens is accepting applications for the fall class, which helps students in the Toledo Public Schools complete high school diploma requirements while earning credit toward an associate degree or certificate.

Informational sessions on the free program are being held through June 28 at 5 p.m. Tuesdays and 3 p.m. Wednesdays at the college’s learning center at The Source, 1301 Monroe St., in downtown Toledo. Owens and Toledo Public Schools received a $325,000 start-up grant in 2011 to implement Gateway to College, a nationally recognized dropout-recovery program.
