The Monroe County Community College Board of Trustees selected the school's fifth president Wednesday.

Kojo Quartey, who most recently served as provost of the City Colleges of Chicago, was chosen with a unanimous vote over three other finalists. He still must negotiate a contract with the board.

Mr. Quartey was appointed in 2011 as provost of the City Colleges of Chicago, a multi-campus community college system.

April 29 was his last day of employment at the City Colleges of Chicago as he left to pursue other opportunities, according to City Colleges.

Before his stint in Chicago, Mr. Quartey served as dean of the College of Business at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich., as well as administrative positions at Talladega College in Talladega, Ala., Lincoln University of Missouri in Jefferson City, Mo., and with the Lincoln University Foundation.
