Voters in the Northwood school district will be going to the polls in May to decide again on the same school-construction issue that was narrowly defeated in November.

The board of education today unanimously adopted a resolution declaring the necessity of submitting to the voters on May 6 a combined earned income tax and property tax. Funding would be used for construction of a new building for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grades on the district's campus on Lemoyne Road.

The resolution now goes to the Wood County Auditor, who will calculate the size of the tax increase required for the $33 million project. The board scheduled a special meeting for 6 p.m. Jan. 29 in Superintendent Greg Clark's office to adopt the numbers received from the auditor.

The issue was defeated in November by fewer than five votes.
