MONROE -- Monroe Public Schools Superintendent Barry Martin is appealing to residents to keep their sidewalks clear for the reopening of school on Monday.

"If you live in a residence that has a sidewalk in front of it -- especially if it is a route that students may take to walk to and from school -- please make every effort to ensure that the sidewalk is clear before Monday so students can walk safely on the sidewalk," he said in a statement.

He also asked that homeowners have a safe spot for children to stand if they wait for a bus in a driveway or near a home "so they do not have to stand on piles of snow or in a street or road."
