COLUMBUS — Gov. John Kasich has appointed three residents of Edgerton, Ohio, to serve on a supervisory panel to right the Williams County village’s financial ship in the wake of last year’s declaration of a fiscal emergency.

Robert A. Day, Thomas D. Flegal, and Pamela A. Fitzcharles will serve unspecified terms on the village Financial Planning and Supervision Commission.

State Auditor Dave Yost, citing budget deficits of roughly $110,000 at the end of 2012 and $134,000 as of Aug. 31, 2013, declared the fiscal emergency, putting the village under the oversight of the commission. In earlier audits, the office considered Edgerton’s books unauditable.

Within four months of its first meeting, the commission must approve a plan to bring the budget into the black and set the course for long-term stability. The auditor’s office will serve in an advisory capacity.
