Orchard Center Alternative High School is now under the operation of the Monroe Public Schools.
The district and Mason Consolidated Schools have been working on the switch with minimal impact on students and staff. The transition was forced by a drop in enrollment at Orchard and a projected budget deficit that led to the layoffs of three teachers.
The board retained principal Stephanie Cavanaugh, while building secretary Ann Blackmore was kept on a third-party contract.
