University of Toledo Provost Scott Scarborough selected as next president at University of Akron

AKRON -- University of Toledo's provost has been selected from among three finalists to become the next president of University of Akron.

Scott Scarborough, also UT's executive vice president for academic affairs, was named to the post during a live news conference that just started today in Akron. He was selected above former Ohio State University football coach Jim Tressel and also Ronald Nykiel of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Akron's current president, Luis Proenza, is leaving his position in June.
