Sylvania Schools investigating teacher
5/12/2014Sylvania Schools is investigating a reported inappropriate relationship between a female elementary school teacher and a teenage student.
Nancy Crandell, Sylvania Schools spokesman, said the district is conducting its own investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship between a male high school student and a teacher. She said the district was alerted the incident in late April.
The teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation. The district alerted City of Sylvania police immediately she said; however, charges were not filed because the student was of consensual age.
In Ohio the legal age to consent to sex is 16.
The district would not provide further details on the incident until the investigation concludes, she said.
