Oregon school board president resigns post

Oregon school board President P.J. Kapfhammer has resigned from the board for personal reasons, school officials said.

Details of the resignation were not released, although Superintendent Lonny Rivera said, “There was no scandal that led to his resignation.”

Mr. Kapfhammer, who resigned Tuesday night at a board meeting, has been president since July, 2012. He did not return calls for comment.

His time on the board has included much controversy.

In 2013, he was found guilty in Maumee Municipal Court of a disorderly conduct charge, a minor misdemeanor, after a police investigation found that he had yelled a profanity and threatened to harm a 25-year-old man with autism.

The victim, who serves as an honorary manager of the Clay High School baseball team, was working out with the players when the incident occurred.

Board vice president Carol Molnar was appointed president, and board member Jeff Ziviski was appointed vice president.

The board has 30 days to fill the vacant seat and it is accepting applications for the position online.

The deadline is June 27.
