UT names 2 new college deans

The University of Toledo announced the appointment Tuesday of two college deans.

Steven LeBlanc, executive associate dean for academic affairs in UT’s engineering school, was named interim dean of the college. He replaces Nagi Naganathan, who became interim dean of the university July 1 after Dr. Lloyd Jacobs stepped down.

Mr. LeBlanc has been in the engineering school since 1980. From 1993 to 2003, he led the chemical engineering department. He previously spent three years at Toledo Edison.

Mr. LeBlanc received his bachelor’s in chemical engineering from UT and a master’s and doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan.

Gary Insch, who had been the associate dean for graduate programs and associate professor of management, was named dean of the UT College of Business and Innovation. His first day will be Monday. He replaces interim dean Thomas Sharkey.

Mr. Insch has been with West Virginia University since 2002. Before that, he worked at Boston University and Indiana University, and spent time at First Security Bank of Utah in Salt Lake City, the Actors’ Repertory Theater Ensemble in Provo, Utah, and the Small Business Development Center in Salt Lake City.

Mr. Insch received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Brigham Young University, an MBA in international business and marketing from the University of Utah, an MBA from Indiana University, and a doctorate in international business and strategy from Indiana University.
