Kay-Lynn Schaller has been selected as the Teacher of the Month for guiding students of all backgrounds and abilities to achieve excellence; for her ability to collaborate with colleagues, students and families; for connecting her classroom with key stakeholders; and for her leadership and innovation. She is a true advocate for career and technical education and the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) student organization. She is very involved in FCCLA as an advisor and involves many junior students in regional, state and national competitions.

She has been recognized as the 2016 Ohio Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Science (OATFACS) Teacher of the Year and 2017 Penta Career Center Teacher of the Year. Kay-Lynne also coordinates a successful Project Based Learning Initiative through the School Garden Project in which she and her students plant, maintain and harvest vegetables and herbs in a raised bed garden outdoors and in an aeroponic system inside the school.

“Kay-Lynne Schaller takes her passion for Family and Consumer Science and brings that enthusiasm into her classroom and to her students on a daily basis,” said Jerry Gladieux, Supervisor of Satellite Programs. “She not only wants her students to learn the content while they are in her classroom, but she also wants students to take what they have learned and apply it to real life situations. Kay-Lynne established high expectations for her students but, more importantly, she sets high expectations for herself as an educator. She serves as a role model for her students as well as her fellow educators at Anthony Wayne Junior High and Penta Career Center.”
