3 northwest Ohio students grab history contest honors

Three northwest Ohio students took top honors in a regional National History Day contest, the Toledo History Museum announced.

Megan Schermond, an eighth grader at Pike-Delta-York Middle School, was recognized for her paper “Excerpts From the Diary of Betty Parris: A Girl in the Midst of the Conflict During the Salem Witch Trials.”

Elijah Comer and Riley Duncan, ninth and 10th graders at Toledo Early College High School, were recognized for their project, “The Conflict and Compromise of 1835: Ohio vs. Michigan,” in the senior division of the group website category.

The event was held Saturday at Bowling Green campus.
