FirstEnergy to offer rebates for fixed plans

FirstEnergy Corps electricity supplier subsidiary has launched a sales promotion that attempts to entice customers through a cash-back offer.

FirstEnergy Solutions, which supplies power to residents and businesses, said Monday that it will give residential customers 3 percent cash back on the electricity they use if they sign up for a fixed-rate plan of three years or seven years. The cash back will be paid annually through a Visa prepaid card.

The offer is available to northwest Ohio consumers in the Toledo Edison territory. The utility also is extending the offer to 10 other service territories, including that of AEP Ohio, a competitor that FirstEnergy Corp. is engaged with in a fierce marketing battle for customers.
