Sylvania to host Shred Day on Saturday

The city of Sylvania will host its eighth annual Shred Day and electronic-waste collection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Administration Building parking lot, 6730 Monroe St.

Loose-leaf paper or paper-based material is accepted. Paper must be free from clips or binders. Staple removal is unnecessary.

Participants can shred for free up to 50 pounds of paper, which is three banker’s boxes or three medium bags. Additional shredding is $3 per container.

Electronic waste also will be collected. Acceptable items include: computers, laptops, mainframes, servers, computer cables, any wiring, cell phones and telephone systems, fax machines, printers and copiers, as well as electronic circuit boards.

Small appliances or devices, such as CD players and games, are also acceptable. There will be a $5 charge for computer monitors. TVs are not being collected.
