Farmers can register to recycle tractor tires

FREMONT — Farm tires will be accepted for recycling by the Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Solid Waste District from residents who register by Friday, the agency announced.

Farm owners, operators, and residents in the three-county area may register by calling the district’‍s main office at 419-334-7222 or toll-free at 1-888-850-7224 and should be prepared to give the number and size of tires to be recycled.

Tires up to 36 inches in diameter will be accepted for $1 each. Tires between 37 and 60 inches will be accepted for $10 each, and tires exceeding 61 inches, including all combine tires, will be accepted for $15 each.

Registrants will be given a date and time to deliver their unwanted tires to the Sandusky County Fairgrounds in Fremont. All participants should bring a driver’‍s license or other proof of residence. Tires will not be accepted from dealers or agribusinesses.
