Description: Mobile Meals of Toledo is sponsoring The 23rd Annual Great Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Stranahan Great Hall, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd.

28 chili teams will compete in various categories: Media compete from Noon-3 p.m.; Restaurant, amateur and corporate teams compete from Noon-3 p.m. with chili sampling until 4 p.m. Media awards announced at 3 p.m.; all other awards announced at around 3:30 p.m.

Attendees select the People’s Choice winners as you vote for your favorite chili with your dollars!

The day’s activities include a DJ; outdoor classic car show (weather permitting) and concessions (Coca-Cola products, Miller beer products, hot dogs and Toft’s Ice Cream) - all available from Noon-4 p.m. with the award presentation beginning at 3 p.m.

There will also be a photo booth from Photo Tableau and a live Twitter feed featured on screen along with the Photo Booth photos on the other screen.

Plan to attend on Saturday, March 28 and sample award-winning chili. Free admission but make sure to bring money to vote for your favorite chili.

It promises to be the hottest event in town. All proceeds benefit Mobile Meals of Toledo.

Description: River View Yacht Club Announces Sunday Breakfast Fund Raisers

River View Yacht Club has announced that it will hold Sunday Breakfast Buffet Fund Raisers from now through March 29, 2015 from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the club located at 5981 Edgewater Drive in Point Place.

The Sunday Breakfast Buffet, which starts January 4, 2015, features pancakes, french toast, potatoes, bacon, ham, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, made to order eggs and omelets, breakfast burritos, toast, juice & coffee. The cost is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for children 12 and under. The Sunday Breakfast Buffet is open to the public.

“Our community is in the midst of trying to redevelop our waterfront and to encourage people in our community to once again get involved in boating and nautical activities,” said John Hunt, Past Commodore, RVYC. “While the proceeds raised go to fund our 2015 Commodore’s Ball, The Sunday Breakfast Buffet is a great opportunity for individuals and families to stop in and find out what we have to offer and to see if they would like to be part of our area boating community.”

RVYC was established in 1949. In its early years, RVYC worked with the City of Toledo to host the “Aquarama” boat races on the Maumee River near Walbridge Park. The club continues to promote various area nautical recreational activities.

Walk The Word Ministry Scholarship Fundraiser

Description: On March 29, 2015 Walk The Word Ministry (WTWM) will host a sold out signature event of approximately 400 guests who are pre-paid and expected to attend “Walk The Word Celebrity Wait Night Dinner.” These guests will fill the grand ballroom at the Grand Plaza Hotel dressed in their “Sunday Best” attire to be served a meal delightful to the palate by one of the 22 recruited waiters. The evening festivities also includes a silent auction and 50/50 raffle.

As our ministry grows, we continue to search for ways to meet the needs of both the community and those we serve within our own congregation. This year we have committed to raising scholarship dollars for our graduates, and members of the congregation seeking higher education or a professional trade that requires certification or continued education.

“I am thrilled with the community support”, states Pastor Pettaway. The evening’s emcee is 13 ABC Kristian Brown and assisting Walk The Word Ministry Waiters for the event includes Lucas County Common Pleas, Judge Myron C. Duhart, Sandra Strong, retired Probation Officer/Supervisor at Lucas County Juvenile Court, Michael Kasperczyk, PCC, Behavioral Health & Social Service Providers Counselor Mental Health and 13 ABC Alexis Means.

In the spirit of fun competition, WTWM waiters will be competing for bragging rights and title of Walk The Word Ministry Top Waiter. The winner will be announced that night and determined by their efforts of collected donations and amount of individual tips collected by their table guests.

Description: The Concert Band of the United States Army Field Band and Soldier's Chorus consist of a 65-piece symphonic band and a 29-voice mixed chorus. These select musicians perform a varied repertoire of original and standard concert music, pop, patriotic, and show tunes in a program that appeals to all ages.
