We would like to introduce the community to our new home. We have new plans in store for the River Centre Foundation and we would like to open the doors to our new home and share with community all the new and exciting ventures we are planning. The Open House will also showcase the most fantastic painted Halloween pumpkins in the land and to underscore the fact that pumpkins, squash, gourds and people come in all sizes and shapes! There will be free apple cider and treats for those attending the open house. You will be able to view these marvelous, fanciful, eccentric gourds AND, they will be for sale to raise money for the Foundation. We would love to have your support and see you there.
You will also be able to learn more about the Foundation's "Healing Arts Initiative" aimed at encouraging artistic expression and understanding of those suffering from eating disorders. In September 2013, Dani Fuller became the Director of this program. Dani earned her BFA in Illustration from The American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois. She has spent the past 8 years in Chicago as a freelance artist working in acrylic, print, computer graphics, and illustration, most recently collaborated on her first children's book. She is excited about being able to direct the Foundation's Healing Arts Initiative that will make art more available to those suffering from eating disorders and will bring together other artists inspired by the inner personal strength that can be realized through creativity and artistic expression.
What is the River Centre Foundation?
The River Centre Foundation is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization established to promote better understanding of the causes and the treatments of eating disorders and to prevent the potentially devastating effects of these illnesses through empirically based research, professional training, community education and advocacy. A volunteer board of trustees consisting of professionals, business leaders, family members and interested members of the community oversees the management of the Foundation.
