Description: Look Good… Feel Better is a free workshop facilitated by trained cosmetologists who teach women with cancer how to understand and care for changes in skin and hair that may occur during treatment. Women learn about make-up, skin care, nail care and ways to deal with hair loss such as with wigs, turbans and scarves. Each woman receives a free make-up kit to use during and after the workshop. Look Good… Feel Better is a collaboration between the American Cancer Society, the Personal Care Products Council Foundation and the Professional Beauty Association/National Cosmetology Association.

Unison Behavioral Health Group Set to Welcome Mental Illness Warrior Fred Frese

Description: Dr. Frederick Frese, an accomplished psychologist who battled his own mental illness, will be in Toledo on Thursday, October 15, 2015 to present, “New Directions in Schizophrenia”. The event is slated to be held from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Community Center, 740 North Superior Street. Joining Dr. Frese for this special event is his wife, Dr. Penny Frese. Penny will address the urgency of mental health awareness in youth.

Well-known and revered for both his sense of humor and his remarkable ability to translate research and public policy into useful information, Dr. Frederick J. Frese has specialized in the area of schizophrenia for over 40 years. Diagnosed with the condition when he was 25, he has worked tirelessly as a practitioner and advocate for consumers and their families. Despite his disability, Dr. Frese was able to gain a degree from the American Graduate School of International Management in Phoenix, AZ; and a doctorate in psychology from Ohio University.

Presented with support from United Healthcare Community Plan, State of Ohio continuing education units for counselors and social workers will be available. Registration fee is $79 per person and includes lunch. Together these unflinching first-person testimonials offer catharsis by revealing the hope, humor, and compassion that emerged in the midst of this tragedy. Memorializing 9/11 by sharing the stories no one saw on the news, this play is a powerful and humanizing account of New York City's darkest day.

Description: Paranormal Tour of the Wolcott House

Take a candlelit night tour of the historic Wolcott House where paranormal events have been documented within its rooms over the years. After seeing a short film on the Wolcott family and their time in Maumee, a docent will take you through the rooms in the historic home and relate the strange happenings that have taken place within its walls.

New in 2015

One night only, the ORBS paranormal group will lead two investigative tours of three buildings at the Wolcott Heritage Center on October 31, 2015. ORBS will be bringing their specialized equipment and audience participation is encouraged.

ORBS has performed many investigations of historical homes and buildings over the years with their investigations shown on The History Channel, The Biography Channel, and Animal Planet.

Please bring a small flashlight and wear flat shoes. This tour is not recommended for children under 12. Reservation only.
