Sylvania Southview Presents Disney's High School Musical
Southview Theatre
Category: Theater
Time: 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Venue: Sylvania Southview High School
Location: Sylvania
Address: 7225 Sylvania Ave
Sylvania, OH

Description: Sylvania Southview High School is proud to present Disney’s High School Musical, with special permission from Music Theatre International. The production runs Thursday April 24 – Saturday April 26 at 7:30 pm and Sunday April 27 at 2:30 pm at Southview High School.

Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical comes to life on stage. Troy, Gabriella, and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends, and family while balancing their classes and extra curricular activities. It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations, and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock Troy (junior David Mohler) discovers that the brainy Gabriella (senior Hannah Johnson), a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical, led by Ms. Darbus (sophomore Sara Young) and written by fellow student, Kelsi (junior Jessica Clark). Although many students, including brainiac Taylor (freshman Bridgette Dona), Troy’s jock best friend, Chad (junior Michael Welter) and especially thespian twins Sharpay (senior Madi Fontana) and Ryan (senior Keith Dona), resent the threat posed to the "status quo," Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.

Over one hundred students, including seventy cast members, are involved in this production through the cast, crew, and orchestra. Director Brandi Shepard chose this production because it is a timeless story and truly a community event. Miss Shepard is assisted by vocal directors, Dawn Kingman and Lindsay Andrews, Technical Director Jon Austin, and pit orchestra director, Ali Knowles. Student leadership includes stage manager Erin Duffey, set crew head Theron Wineinger, props crew head Sheridan Palus, and run crew head Stephanie Camicom.
