Description: The Great Lakes Historical Society's Peachman Lake Erie Shipwreck Research Center and the Maritime Archaeological Survey Team host their annual Nautical Archaeology Training Workshop. Saturday, April 27th at the Maritime Academy of Toledo, 803 Water Street; and Sunday April 28th at the Col. James M. Schoonmaker Museum Ship, 1701 Front Street.

You do NOT have to be a diver to join MAST. The Basic class is suitable for beginners of all ages.

Basic (Introductory) Level course qualifies you as a MAST member and allows you to take part in our ongoing archaeological field work. Students learn the basics of Nautical Archaeology, why we do it and how we do it. Topics include ship construction, trilateration, survey equipment, and laws and ethics.

Advanced Level course is for members with prior experience.

In water portion of the class will be held either Saturday May 18th or Sunday May 19th depending upon weather.

Basic and Advanced level classes are $125. This includes instruction, workbooks, snacks and lunch for both classroom days.
Cost for admission to White Star Quarry for diving in May and cost of optional evening banquet on Saturday April 27th are not included.

There may be an opportunity to earn an underwater archaeology specialization PADI or SEI through the Basic course.
